What is Bowl for Kids’ Sake? Bowl for Kids' Sake is about having fun to help kids. It’s an easy way to make a difference, and everyone can get involved as bowler, team captain, or a sponsor. Similar to a marathon, hundreds of community supporters create bowling teams with their friends, family or co-workers and raise awareness and funding to support our mentoring programs. Funds raised go directly toward matching children with carefully-screened, caring Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers. Remember, you don't have to be the Kingpin to play!
How does it work?
Think of Bowl for Kids' Sake like a "bowl-a-thon." Teams of 5 friends, family members, and co-workers work together to raise at least $100 per bowler to bowl at the event. Team members can be any age 6 years old and up. Big Brothers Big Sisters created this easy-to-use website to help you fundraise using our secure online email system. You can also connect to your Twitter and Facebook social networks. All you and your team needs to do is ask your friends, family, co-workers and other contacts for support as you Bowl for Kids' Sake!
Where will Bowl For Kids' Sake take place? Big Brothers Big Sisters will celebrate all of our bowlers’ efforts by hosting a very large bowling party at Lucky Strike at LA Live with a sleek atmosphere, plush designer seating, cozy dining areas, an exceptional menu, billiards, DJs and electronic art shows projected all over the lanes and lounge. Also included for all registered bowlers are RAFFLE PRIZES, FOOD AND DRINKS, BOWLING FOR YOUR TEAM (INCLUDING SHOES AND LANE FEES), A REGISTRATION GIFT, and TROPHIES FOR THE WINNING TEAMS!  (Lucky Strike at LA Live) In celebration, Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles agencies are joining forces to host an incredible event! Join us for some fun! Help us raise awareness and funding for our mentoring programs! Get your social network, your church, fraternity, sorority or other community group involved!

There are certainly lots of options out there for getting involved with a community-based charitable organization, but none are as fun as Bowl for Kids' Sake. 100% of our proceeds fund our mentoring programs on behalf of our Little Brothers and Little Sisters. Little Brother Ivan
When he came to BBBSGLA in 2000, Ivan was a sad and confused nine year old kid, who’d recently gotten into trouble for fighting, disobeying rules and lying. He graduated from BBBSGLA in 2009 with his high school diploma, and admission to Cal State LA. During their nine year match, Big Brother Vince’s consistent presence in his life has helped Ivan weather many storms—including a stint in foster care, having an incarcerated father, and two brothers heavily involved with gangs. Vince showed Ivan that he could have a bright future if he focused on school and sports. Over the summer, Ivan participated in an engineering internship from the City of LA, and has been offered an engineering job upon completion of his degree.
Making a Difference
Sonia, is the mother of two boys who are matched to Big Brothers. Although Daniel (11 yrs. old), was recently matched to Big Brother Joe, she already sees the difference mentoring has made. Daniel was struggling in school and she would receive daily notes from the teacher stating he was not doing homework or misbehaving. Most morning Daniel had a hard time getting ready or didn't want to go to school.
Since he has been matched to his Big, Daniel wakes himself up, showers, eats breakfast and is ready to go to school before Sonia is even home from her night job. Once he gets home from school Daniel does his homework, eats and goes to bed early. Sonia has not received one single note from his teacher.
She feels eternally grateful that both her son have Bigs and thanks everyone who supports Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters' good work. She is excited that Joe and Daniel are participating in Bowl For Kids Sake and raising money so more children can get a Big!

Who can get involved in Bowl for Kids' Sake?
Bowl for Kids' Sake has something for everyone! Remember it’s not your skill or your score that counts – it’s your effort! You can sponsor a player or team, sign up to be a bowler or Team Captain, or both!
If you are a sponsor, your support helps match a child in need with a responsible adult mentor, right here in your community. A variety of sponsoring opportunities are available. You can make a general donation, donate towards a player or team, or sponsor our bowling event! If you are a bowler, your support helps us raise funds and awareness for our mentoring programs. You also get to have some bowling fun with your teammates!
